AI on Board

AI on Board

Artificial Intelligence will play a central role throughout the Liminaris project — not only in the technical monitoring of the ship but also in its cultural and artistic mission.

On the technical side, the AI will continuously supervise all the ship’s vital systems: batteries and propulsion, solar and wind energy production, water and air quality, navigation and safety. The navigation system in particular is a crucial part of this process, allowing the ship to operate smoothly, anticipate risks, and optimize routes with precision. Thanks to this constant attention, the Liminaris can function efficiently, sustainably, and with maximum reliability.

But Limmy, the name we gave to our AI, is much more than an invisible engineer. It will actively participate in the creative life of the project: contributing to storytelling, helping to shape the plays, and even appearing on stage. For this purpose, two robots will be built and connected to Limmy, one life-size, and one puppet-sized of about forty centimeters, both ready to interact with the crew and the audience.

Limmy will also be present during conferences, workshops, and educational visits on board, engaging directly with visitors. In this way, technology and imagination come together, making Liminaris not only a ship of sustainable innovation but also a stage for creativity and discovery.
